This fall, I am looking for all of the daily glimmers that I can – in the sky, in interactions, artfully presented foods, beautiful and full bodied wines, getting to those tricky yoga positions. I see it also in beautiful fabrics, luxurious lotions, and the gorgeous sound of musicians I hold dear.
Being my birthday month, I always find the glimmers are even that much more vibrant. There is something about celebrating another year around the sun, mixed with pre-festive vibes and scenery. Last year was the big 5-0. This year’s celebrations seem to be following the last – big music events with special family and friends, gatherings with shopping, wanderings, and epicurean adventures mixed in.
I am incredibly grateful to live close to two amazing hubs. These offer many glimmers to me. Seattle, WA is one. There is something I can never quite describe with words about this city. I always use the word pulse, but there is something truly deep about it. There is a rawness, and an incredible artistic side to the city. Musicians that make me joyful and/or evoke deep emotion. The old architecture holding so much value. The people. The people are LOVELY. I always say, if I win a lotto, I will have a vacation condo there.
The other city I am in between is Vancouver, CA (not to be mixed up with Vancouver , WA nearby – a cute and newly designed city, but very different from the Vancouver in Canada). This city has a very calm/mild type of architecture, I would say. My glimmers found there are often at the small and iconic theatres, the Michelin starred restaurants and hotels, and at quaint Granville Island. I also love wandering the streets in Coal Harbour, especially at night.
These are the glimmers of the month. Inspiration outside and in the musical and food adventures I will soon take.
